The movie, along with Cavill’s performance, received mixed reviews, but he reprised his role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, which might have been his final role as Superman. Pattinson was offered the role of the mysterious Edward Cullen from "Twilight" at a time when he had run out of money he earned from "Harry Potter", he said, adding that it was at a point where he had developed an "absolute terror of auditions.In 2013, the DCEU kicked off with Man of Steel, which told the origin story of Clark Kent and saw him go against General Zod (Michael Shannon), a Kryptonian general who wanted to transform Earth into a new Krypton he could rule. "I'm holding it like a gun with two hands thinking like I'm in a "Die Hard" movie," the star joked, "I think I even have one eye closed." Pattinson also shared how he felt while he was yielding a wand during the shoot. "I remember the first scene I ever shot on that was in the magical maze at the end and I'd never done anything with special effects and stunts and it was a big deal at the time," he said. The actor added the first scene he filmed for the movie was "so terrifying," as the cameras captured the third task of the Triwizard Tournament. "He's the first death in Harry Potter, which is my claim to fame," Pattinson joked. He then went on to speak about how his character's death in the fourth installment of "Harry Potter" was actually the franchise's first to be seen onscreen.
